Tell Me the Stories of Jesus vs. 2-3


I wanted to continue on with my storybook theme that I started last week so I created additional storybook pages for the 2nd and 3rd verses.

I thought it might be fun to make the storybook a little more interactive by bringing in some movement and repetition for the 2nd and 3rd verses.

So I created these visuals that you can simply add to your binder storybook...



Download my documents HERE.  Print and place them in sheet protectors in the back of your storybook binder that you created for the first verse.

Then to make the storybook interactive, I created these visuals here for the kids to hold (but they can be completely optional!):



You want enough pictures so every child gets to hold something (you can just have one of each image and let the kids take turns).  If you have 27 kids in primary, you will need 3 copies of my document (there are 9 images total).  Download these HERE.  I printed mine on card stock, laminated and cut out.  Then I mounted them to popsicle sticks using packaging tape (small dowels would work as well).  

To use in primary, review the first verse with your storybook.  Tell the primary that there are 2 more verses to the song that are about imagining being there when the stories of Jesus took place.  Sing through the 2nd and 3rd verses using the storybook with words and pictures.  Invite teachers and children to sing along if they are able.

Pass out a visual stick to each child (the more random the visuals are dispersed, the better!).  Repeat singing through the 2nd and 3rd verses using the storybook.  When they see the picture in the storybook that matches the visual they are holding, they raise it up.  Sing through the 2nd and 3rd verses.

Have the kids trade with their neighbor for a new visual.  Repeat singing through the storybook with new visuals.  You can pause between phrases to define difficult words if needed.

Repeat until all the children have had lots of turns to hold lots of different visuals.

For the last time, try closing the book and singing through the entire song, with children raising their visuals when they hear their corresponding phrase.
