Primary Program Singo

Since it's the 5th Sunday, I have the whole time. We'll be playing Primary Program Singo (similar to Bingo). I've made the Bingo cards generic so you can use them every year! Make sure to bring your 2010 Outline for Sharing Time booklet, it will help you out a lot with this game.
-
At the bottom of the post are 25 DIFFERENT Singo cards I've made (calling card sheets are in the post below this one). Feel free to copy them and print onto cardstock to make your own (I hope you can get it to work!). I put my Singo cards in plastic cover sheets. Then I cut the calling cards and laminated them. In each plastic cover sheet, I threw in 25 small squares of colored cardstock so the kids can cover the items as they are called. When we are finished playing the game all their game pieces will go back inside the cover sheets - keeps it easy. Hope that makes sense.
-
On the cards there is a free space in the middle that everyone covers up and the other items fall into 3 categories (not all cards have everything):
January - December Themes (12 total)
January - December Songs (12 total)
13 Articles of Faith
-
When a song or Article of Faith is called, we'll sing it. I'll pick a child to come be the leader with a special conductor stick (I have a Star Wars Light Saber that I know will be a hit). I know that for the months September - December there are not planned songs but our ward, for program purposes, picks songs that go along with that months theme. So for the program, we'll have these additional songs:
-
September - Keep the Commandments p, 146
October - I Hope They Call me on a Mission p. 169
November - Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam . 60
December - Hosanna p. 66
-
These are pretty easy songs that we'll be able to go over a few times when we review these next few weeks. If your ward isn't doing this, you can still sing these songs when they are called as they do go along with that month's theme. If your primary doesn't know them, try posting the words up front or pick something else they will know. And for convenience sake, write these songs with the page number in your 2010 Outline in the right month. You may also want to fill in the songs you picked for May and August too!
-
When the monthly themes are called, either me or a child will read the monthly theme in the microphone (it's the scripture or Article of Faith listed in the 2010 Outline for Sharing Time for each month).
-
When a child gets 5 in a row, they yell "SINGO" and get some reward - candy, their teacher has to wear a crazy hat, whatever you want. You can go for blackout too if you have time.
-
Now, if you have a primary bigger than 25, here are my suggestions:
1. Partner up. Put an older child with a younger one.
2. Each class gets one to do together and have the teacher hold the Singo card (great for Jr.)
3. Make two big ones on the chalkboard and have teachers vs. children (also great for Jr.). If you do this option, just print out all the calling cards, hang them on the chalkboard and draw the bingo card lines. Make sure you have 48 cards printed and then just write "FREE SPACE with chalk in the middle.
-
Here are all the cards. Let me know if you have questions.

The calling cards are in the post below...

Singo Calling Cards

In making up the calling cards, I discovered I missed Article of Faith #6 (there should be 37 items total). Woops - none of the Singo cards have it. Oh well. I'm sure the kids won't be too disappointed :).
Cut these all apart and put in a bag to be called out.

To Think About Jesus

I wanted to teach this song in sign language but when I went to the church's signing website to learn it, it wasn't there so I improvised. I'm no signing expert so I apologize now to the signing community!

Prep:
1. Bring 3 pictures found in the GAK (Gospel Art Kit):
The Crucifixion GAK #230
Jesus Praying in Gethsemane GAK #227
Christ and Children from Around the World GAK #608

2. Learn how to sign these key words:
not
hard
sit
think
Jesus
cross
pain
me
children
all
Use THIS online ASL Dictionary link (to search for the actual word, click on the letter it starts with under "Main Dictionary" and then scroll down under "Choices" to find it)

When I teach sign, I learn it all backwards or mirror what I see, using mainly my left hand. Then I have the kids mirror what I do so they learn it with the right hand or correctly. I even tell them to mirror me and we practice before I start. When I move my left hand up or down, they move their right hand up or down, etc.

3. I like to make notes to take with me in case I draw a blank which happens a lot. Here are my notes that I have printed out in a Word document...they may not make sense to anyone but me!

Not (for shouldn't) - shake your head like "no," left hand in a fist with thumb extended, bring it out from your chin

Hard - make the "H" sign (first 2 fingers extended, thumb holds the other 2) with left hand and make a fist with the right. Hit fists together

Sit - forefinger and middle fingers extended on both hands, thumb holding the other 2, and cross them together like the left finger are sitting on the right

Think - left hand circles temple but doesn't touch it

Jesus - middle finger of the left hand touches the palm of the right and then the middle finger of the right hand touches the palm of the left

Cross - left hand is in cupping shape facing out, make a cross shape going down first then across right to left

Pain (for suffered) - forefingers extended but curved like a hook then twist hand sin opposite directions, not touching

Me - point to chest with left hand

Not (for shouldn't) - shake your head like "no," left hand in a fist with thumb extended, bring it out from your chin

Hard - make the "H" sign (first 2 fingers extended, thumb holds the other 2) with left hand and make a fist with the right. Hit fists together

Sit - forefinger and middle fingers extended on both hands, thumb holding the other 2, and cross them together like the left finger are sitting on the right

Not (for shouldn't) - shake your head like "no," left hand in a fist with thumb extended, bring it out from your chin

Hard - make the "H" sign (first 2 fingers extended, thumb holds the other 2) with left hand and make a fist with the right. Hit fists together

Children (for small) - both hands at chest level, palms open and facing down, "patting" motion starting in the middle and going outward

Think - left hand circles temple but doesn't touch it

Jesus - middle finger of the left hand touches the palm of the right and then the middle finger of the right hand touches the palm of the left

Not - shake your head like "no," left hand in a fist with thumb extended, bring it out from your chin

Hard - make the "H" sign (first 2 fingers extended, thumb holds the other 2) with left hand and make a fist with the right. Hit fists together

All - left hand in fist near right shoulder. Then make an "L" shape with forefinger and thumb and cross your body
